Memories of a Life That Made Everything Feel Special

Aunty Phuong was truly one of a kind, a travel expert and someone who made every moment feel special. She inspired me to explore more and appreciate the simple things in life. In 2017, she took me and Jason to Vietnam, showed us where our family grew up, and took care of us for two weeks like we were her own kids. I’ll always remember how much love and care she put into everything, finding the best food, planning fun excursions, and making sure we were safe the entire time.

I feel so lucky to have had so many moments with her over the years. She was the queen of cruises and even planned a big family one that I’ll never forget, an entire week of eating, drinking, dancing, and just being together with nowhere else to be.

One of my favorite memories was in Jamaica, when her and Uncle Andy somehow fit our whole family (like 20 of us) into one van for an excursion. It was chaotic, loud, and full of laughter. We kept joking the tires on the back of the van was going to pop cause there was so many of us in the van.

Aunty Phuong was so special to me. She cared about everyone and never needed recognition or attention in return. It still doesn’t feel real that she’s no longer with us, but I will carry her with me always, in my heart and in the memories we shared. Her smile and laugh will stay with me, and I’ll do my best to live with the same love and care she gave to everyone around her.

Our baby won’t get the chance to meet her, and that’s something that will always feel unfair and painful. But Aunty Phuong loved the name Mason, and he will carry that as part of his name in her honor. Even though they won’t meet, a piece of her will always be with him. One day, we’ll share her stories, her laughter, and the love she gave so freely, so he can know just how special she was and how deeply she’s a part of him.
